What is the Schaudepot? The Schaudepot was initiated by Melanie Mohren and Bernhard Herbordt. The Game by Viviana González Méndez: This game comes from learning about how traditions, coming from rural and suburban context of popular Andean world, understand and create relationships with their surroundings. Distilled from these traditions is, especially, the idea that space is understood as a community of beings that are interwoven and in constant dialogue with each other. By this logic, there is no hierarchical difference between the human and other beings. But if we accept that places can be beings, then we should also include them as part of this community. And what surrounds us are not simply objects but living entities with which we could establish relations of reciprocity.

From the vision of global sharing to a needs-oriented center – discussion laboratory of the Stuttgarter teilbar e.V. with guests, 28.10.2023, 3-4:30 pm This conversation lab by Tom Knaffl with Surja Ahmed, Claus Baumann, Heide Fischer, Janka Kluge and Paula Kohlmann is about sharing. It’s also about ideas, and spaces, knowledge and resources. What does it mean to share? What structures enable sharing processes? Tom Knaffl, founder of the Verein teilbar e. V. in Stuttgart, invites committed and interested neighbors and experts to share their thoughts, to think about a specific project together, to encourage and advise each other.  ‘Stadtraum-Theater in der alten Fliesenlegerwerkstatt.’ by Elisabeth Maier, Theater der Zeit, 4/2023. Since 2021, Herbordt and Mohren, the two pioneers of the performing arts, have been operating their Schaudepot in the former workshop of an Altenbergweg tiler, in the midst of many rental apartments down in Stuttgart Kessel. Regarding the concept, Herbordt remarks:⁠ “Our basic idea is to bring theatre into the residential area.” During lunch break or after work, people stop by and watch videos of the productions that the Herbordt/Mohren collective has been creating since 2012. For their socio-political performative projects, the two were awarded the "Der Faust" German Theatre Prize in the genre-busting category in 2022. The Schaudepot – Spezial V – Die Gesellschaft (The Society), Kodak et al., 18.3.2023, 2-8 p.m.: Schaudepot Special presents, among other things, in the afternoon ‘The Society’ and ‘The Children's Society’ with guests from around the world, an ‘An idea lab on the potential of virtual reality for blind and visually impaired persons’ by and with Steven Solbrig, Matthias Nagel and guests. In the evening we look forward to the reception on the occasion of the German Theater Award ‘Der Faust’ for ‘Das Schaudepot’ and the presentation of the new performance ‘Kodak’ for adults and children by and with Jorge Alencar and Neto Machado!

On the potential of virtual reality for blind and visually impaired persons by and with Steven Solbrig, Matthias Nagel and guests / 18.3.2023, 4:00-5:30 pm.: Together, in this idea lab, we explore the potential of performative formats of virtual reality for blind and visually impaired people, and look for a plot, for initial impulses for a digital storytelling and performing.

The Schaudepot – Special IV – The Society a.o., 8.10.2022, 2–8 p.m.: The Schaudepot - Special presents, among many other things, ‚Die Gesellschaft’ (The Society) as a new performance with live audio description in the Schaudepot in the afternoon and looks forward to a lecture by Azadeh Sharifi in the early evening. 2-8pm. For adults and children!
The Schaudepot - lunch break The Schaudepot always opens on Tuesdays for a quick performance during the lunch break. The offer also includes tactile guided tours, performances with audio description or in German sign language. Individual appointment from 12: 00 to 14: 00 at info@die-institution.org.
